The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, through the Energy Transition Research Center – EnTReC, together with 22 partners from 8 countries European countries (Austria, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain and Romania) are launching the Horizon 2020 – Renewable ENergy-based Positive Homes (RENplusHOMES) project.
With a duration of 42 months and a value of 6 million Euros, the project aims to develop a generally valid methodology regarding Energy Positive Houses (residential buildings that present a surplus of energy from renewable sources), to facilitate the transition to a neutral future from climatic point of view.
Implemented in four pilot sites in Austria, Spain, Estonia and Romania (Mărăști Student Complex), the project will propose technical solutions for both new constructions and renovations. The goal is to “create buildings”, which have a net positive impact on the environment and which drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition, project partners are actively working to develop business models for energy communities that are both cost and energy efficient. RENpusHOMES will test and validate solutions for Case Pozitiv Energetic with the potential for replicability throughout Europe.
Between May 24 and 26, the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN) participates in Cluj Innovation Days, an event that takes place at the Grand Hotel Italia and is dedicated to innovation, entrepreneurship and the creation of interprofessional and intersectoral collaborations for the emergence of new business models with societal impact. This year’s edition number XI is marked by the launch of the Digital Innovation Center for Society – DIH4 Society – proposed by the consortium led by Cluj IT Cluster and formed by the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, the Bistrița-Năsăud Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the University from Oradea. The launch took place at the opening of Thursday, May 25, in the presence of the representatives of the project partners.
