The University campus has a distributed structure in Cluj-Napoca, being composed of buildings located both in the city centre and other buildings located in the Zorilor and Mărăști neighbourhoods, buildings that are very well connected with the existing public transport system (CTP Cluj) and in equally through bicycle paths made along important arteries in the city, which thus offer sustainable travel solutions. For certain faculties in Cluj-Napoca and for extensions, the campuses being single-building, specific activities can be carried out in the most efficient manner. The University promotes cycling as a viable and preferred transport option and has bicycle parking facilities.

The polluting factors generated by the various emissions related to means of transport generate negative, often serious effects on human health and the environment. By traveling to campus sustainably students, staff and surrounding communities could enjoy the benefits of better air quality, improved health and wellbeing and a safer environment around Campus.

Entering tertiary education can mark the beginning of an individual’s independent travel decision. Campuses and neighbourhoods that make sustainable transportation options convenient will facilitate the formation of lifelong sustainable travel habits.

University students benefit from the Green Friday program of the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca, a program that offers free transportation with a set of electric buses that cover the essential directions needed to move around the Campus.

Along with this program, students can also benefit from the green transport infrastructure provided by the municipality, namely bike lanes and parking lots, access to the Cluj-Bike program, and the use of other light vehicles such as Bolt scooters.

Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, as a partner in the Smart Mobility project, aims to carry out continuous information actions and awareness and implementation of Smart Travel-type mobility, both through specific actions of student organizations and as case studies within the specialized courses of sustainable development. The General Administrative Directorate supports the entire process of translation towards sustainable mobility of the entire Community through initiatives and projects that implement the Green Campus concept.
