TUCN solar engine in World Solar Challenge competition Australia

The students and professors of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN) participated, for the first time for Romania, in the World Solar Challenge competition, with a solar vehicle built by the UTCN team and powered exclusively by solar energy. The competition started on October 22 and took place over a period of 7 days, during which the participants crossed the Australian continent from north to south, over a distance of 3000 km, between Darwin and Adelaide. The World Solar Challenge is the most important competition in the world of solar vehicles and involves a difficult route, on highways, but also in desert areas.

The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca launches the EIC BIGALPS project – a green revolution in the stabilization of landslides and erosion

The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN) is honored to announce the launch of the BIGALPS Project, an EIC Transition type project, which aims to revolutionize the field of soil stabilization. This project, financed by the (EIC) European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency through the program HORIZON-EIC-2022-TRANSITION01 and SERI (State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, Switzerland), represents the first project of this type won in Romania.

On the occasion of the launch of the project, UTCN Rector, Prof. Dr. Eng. Vasile Țopa emphasized its importance and uniqueness: “It is a special achievement for the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and offers a unique opportunity to contribute actively, through innovation and technological transfer, to the achievement of the objectives set at both the national and European level, in terms of reducing our CO2 footprint and creating a safer and healthier environment for our society.”
